Better World Books is a new kind of business. Whilst there are plenty of companies out there that are just beginning to think about their social and environmental impact, for us these responsibilities are absolutely at the core of what we do.
It's simple: Every time you purchase a book from BetterWorldBooks.co.uk, we donate a book to someone in need. The books we donate go through our non-profit partners Books for Africa and Feed the Children.
Total books donated as of February 6, 2013: Over 6.4 Million

From Day One, we've supported literacy by selling books. It makes sense doesn't it? Every time we sell a book, one of our partner charities benefit. They don't share in any profit we might be able to make, but in our everyday revenue. It's a model that's totally fair and very sustainable.

We now work with over 500 libraries and have given over £110,000 back to our clients and our literacy charities. We have re-used or recycled over 700,000 books and created 18 jobs in a tough economic climate.
"At the National Adult Literacy Agency we believe that literacy is deeply connected with the rights of individuals. We know from our work in this area that improving these skills can bring massive benefits to families and communities, reduce the risk of unemployment, and bring broader social returns in terms of reduced crime and better health. We are delighted and grateful to partner with Better World Books as all donations will be used to support adult and family literacy projects in Ireland."
Carbon dioxide emissions contribute to global warming, and the planes, trains and trucks that
deliver your books are no exception. Verified carbon offsets provide a way for us to balance out
these emissions. It's only a few pence per book, but when thousands of people do it every day it
We work with Carbon Footprint, a leading carbon management company, and have estimated an
average offset needed for our packages. 100% of the funds charged as carbon offsets will be
used to plant native British broad-leaved trees in Scotland through Tree Appeal.
By planting trees you will not only be offsetting carbon emissions, but also helping provide wildlife
habitat for many hundreds of years, and passing on to future generations a fascinating and highly
valuable ecological heritage.
